TED: 3D universe map

The TED conference started 26 years ago as a conference designed to bring together people from the worlds of technology, entertainment, and design.  It has since grown to be a showcase for cutting-edge thinking across many disciplines, and it is committed to “ideas worth spreading.” Presenters get 18 minutes a piece, and hundreds of these presentations are available for viewing online.

Here is Carter Emmart (Director of Astrovisualization at the American Museum of Natural History) demoing a 3D map of the universe that he has been developing for 12 years:
